Neon Protest #18
NEON Black is here – Are you ready?!
The Neon Black Protest was founded, organized and designed by Alexandra S. Aderhold Wendt to fight loudly and collectively for animal rights through vegan animal rights activism. It’s an injustice that other animals are exploited for human interests, even though humans are fully capable of living vegan lives. If we are against animal exploitation and if we claim to respect other animals, then we must also live by those values:
We do not exploit other animals for food, clothing, research, entertainment, transport, pet breeding, or any other purpose. We recognize that the bare minimum is to stop using others as means to an end. We take a protective stance toward oppressed animals and, ideally, speak up on their behalf. We are part of the animal kingdom and acknowledge that there is no morally relevant difference between us and other animals that could justify different treatment.
On the basis of these values, Alexandra S. Aderhold Wendt designed these signs and founded the NEON (No Exploitation Of Nonhumans) Black Protest, which has already spread to several cities in Germany and will soon take place in other countries as well. In this protest, various species are presented—each one exploited for human purposes:
Piglet in a breeding facility, exploited for their body
Budgie in a shop window, sold as a pet
Cow at the slaughterhouse, killed for their flesh
